EKOKENT Research and Application Center

  



EKOKENT (Center for Urban and Regional Development and Environment) essentially brings together the actors and institutions involved in urban issues within the interdisciplinary field of communication. EKOKENT identifies the urban as, a platform and a means of communication. Thus, the aim of the research and application center is to promote and develop research on issues relating to the broad field of urban communication, and to organize open events drawing attention to these issues. Explicit tangible outputs are the main pillars of research and applications carried out at EKOKENT, with a particular focus on the collaboration of urban actors.
 
EKOKENT’s domain covers a range of area of interests, which rely on the engagement of diverse disciplines. Among the primary areas are health communication, migration and refugees, children and youth, environmental communication, culture and arts, data and mapping, architecture, urban and regional planning, resilience, emergency communication, communication for social change, sustainability and collective memory. EKOKENT prioritizes certain areas based on the prevailing circumstances and needs. As a result, the research and application center aims to attract urban stakeholders around the specified areas, and carries on with scholarly research along with event organizations, such as workshops, panels, and seminars.
